Vagabond Contessa CO613 - Dark Blue Hull - White topsides

Vagabond Contessa at anchor in the Skerries Lagoon, off Holyhead

Vagabond Contessa was built by Jeremy Rogers in 1978, to the modified 'U' shape galley layout. She was one of the first boats to have the headlining made from the new mold. Vagabond has had two previous owners, one from new until 1988, its second owner from 1988 until September 2003. During this time the boat was maintained at the Agamemnon Yard at Bucklers Hard, on the Beaulieu River. The boat has never been subject to competitive racing. Since I took ownership in 2003 I have steadily completed a very extensive refit at a cost of well in excess of £16,000, with a view to some very serious blue water sailing, the result being that Vagabond Contessa is a fine example of the well established classic Contessa 32, to which most other boats are compared. All the improvements have been made with the original design in mind and little has been changed from the original concept. The boat has been wintered ashore with the cockpit covered, since 2003 and last year (2008) she was not launched. The boat is ready to sail away with no further attention. The following specification highlights the major renewals/replacements but many other smaller items of a general nature have been undertaken.

Layout
The layout of the boat is as the original design with twin/double berth in the forepeak (with infill cushion), to the stern of which is the head (Lavac WC and wash hand basin with manual pump from the cabin sole water tank) to port, and hanging locker to st'bd. This is separated from the main saloon by a teak louvered sliding door. The saloon is of a 'U' shaped seat, which converts into a double bunk when used with the very substantial, large, folding table; opposite which is a long bunk. To the stern of the saloon is the galley (port) and chart table (st'bd). To the stern of the chart table running under the cockpit is a cavernous quarter berth. In total six berths. There are lockers beneath all the bunks. In addition there are lockers in the saloon sides, both above and behind the seat backs, lockers to the back of the galley and chart table.

There are manuals and instructions for most of the equipment on board. Vagabond is registered on the Small Ships Register, her full registration having expired just before I bought the boat.

It is with great regret that I come to have to sell this boat which has been a major part of our lives for over five years, but I now live more than 200 miles ( four hours plus drive), from my mooring, and in addition the plans I had to sail to faraway places are for personal reasons no longer viable.

My mooring in the Menai Strait at Menai Bridge may be available by negotiation

Vagabond Contessa is currently ashore at the Dinas Boat Yard, Port Dinorwic North Wales ready to be launched and sailed away.
